Blackened Grouper Sandwich

Here at Foremost we love sandwiches, especially fish sandwiches! This recipe is one of our go to fish sandwich recipes, a Blackened Grouper Sandwich.  It’s fresh, fast, and easy to prepare after a busy day of work.

More About Grouper

Grouper are part of the large sea bass family. They are large, solitary, predatory fish that inhabit rocky, shallow waters. Grouper are mainly found in warmer waters from the Mid-Atlantic states and Florida to South America, Central America, and the Gulf of Mexico. Grouper has a mild but distinct flavor. The taste of most groupers are similar, with slight differences in flavor and texture, depending on size, species, and location of harvest. For example, red grouper is sweeter and milder than black grouper. Grouper is very forgiving, maintaining moisture in the meat even if it's overcooked. This versatile fish can be fried, grilled, skewered, or used in chowders and soups. Larger whole grouper can be roasted. At Foremost, we sell both whole grouper and grouper fillets!

  • Fresh Grouper

  • Bruckens Blackened Cajun Seasoning

  • Frisch’s Tartar Sauce

  • Lemons

Directions for the Grouper

  1. Rinse grouper and pat dry. Cover grouper fillets with a good amount of blackening seasoning

  2. Heat up saute pan to a high temperature

  3. After pan is heated, coat pan with olive oil and lay grouper in pan

  4. Flip grouper once nicely cooked on one side. The side will be crispy and will pull from the pan easily after about 4 minutes.

  5. After flipping, cook the other side for ~4 minutes.

  6. Once cooked, lay grouper aside and build sandwiches with your toppings. Voila!
